Have you ever noticed when you're having a bad day, there's a bit of a snowball effect, and events of the day seem to keep making it a worse day?

Last week I accidentally shut my finger in a file drawer - even needed a Band-Aid. Then, I smashed first one big toe and then the other while moving a filing cabinet. To top it off, I spilled coffee on the cream colored plush carpeting!

You've heard it said, 'What we focus on expands.'

Well, I'm choosing to focus on moving my business forward, rather than the little boo-boos that come our way.

To-Do List
Got Excuses or Results?

Do you have a zillion and one things on your To-Do list that just have to be done?
  • Plan marketing campaign
  • Follow up with potential leads
  • File paid invoices
  • Prepare expense report
  • Stuff mail out and get to post office
  • Take dog to groomers
While all of the items on your To-Do list could be very important, which of them do you typically attack first? Are they the urgent items or the most important? Are they the ones that move your business forward?

Are there some items on your list that someone else could do? Yes, I know. It will take you time to explain to someone else how you want it done and it would be faster to do it yourself. I've heard the excuses and even made them myself. Ok, so you can be right - or - you can move your business forward!

You may say, "I don't have the time to document how I want something done." How long will it take? ...a half hour ...one hour? Take just 20 minutes at the beginning or end of your day for the next three days and you'll be surprised at the procedures you can have documented.

Still not convinced? Ok, sit back and visualize yourself as the wildly successful business person you know you can be. Will that person be doing all the things on your To-Do list - or will they have procedures that others can follow to complete the tasks?

We all have a choice in how we invest our time. Will you choose to invest your time moving your business forward or ... Will you be saying, 'I've just got to get this filing done and then I can work on my business.'
