Good Morning, Cheryl,
Enchanted Rock

Here in the U.S., the Memorial Day holiday (May 28th) is the unofficial beginning of summer. If you're like me you're probably saying, 'Summer already? Where has the year gone?'

At the end of the summer, what are we likely to say? 'Where did the summer go? I had such plans!'

Really? What do those plans look like? Did you write them down? Did you set a clear intention of what you want to accomplish?

Even when we go to the grocery store, we have at least a vague intention of what we'd like to accomplish - milk, bread, eggs.

If milk, bread, and eggs are important enough to write down, how much more important is it that we write down our goals - what we intend to have accomplished, experienced, or learned by summer's end?

OKay, Start writing...

Too often the opportunity knocks, but by the time you disengage the chain, push back the bolt, unhook the two locks and shut off the burglar alarms, it's too late. - Rita Coolidge, Singer
To-Do List
What's on your dashboard?

Imagine what it would be like if you couldn't see any of the gauges on your car's dashboard. How would you know how fast you were driving? How would you know when to fill up the gas tank?

Okay, so we can just drive at the same speed as the rest of the traffic. And, we could fill up the gas tank every trip we make.

How efficient and productive is that?

There's a term for doing what everyone else is doing - AVERAGE!

So, you had other dreams for your business. Dreams to be more than AVERAGE?

What key indicators do you need to tell you how your business is running? Is there an indicator in your business, like a speedometer or a gas gauge that instantly tells you how your business is doing? Could it be daily sales or hourly output? ...or, website hits or sales calls made? ...or, sales of Products x, y and z? ...or, events booked through ...? ...or customer satisfaction rates? ...or inventory levels?

Whatever your business, knowing the key indicators on a daily basis by looking at your dashboard allows you to :
  • make decisions about your business without sifting through reams and reams of reports, and
  • manage your business whether you're in the office or on the road simply by knowing the key indicators on your dashboard
You don't want to be average. You want to have your finger on the business' pulse ready to make informed decisions.

Promise me you'll consider using a dashboard to manage your business, just like you use a dashboard to manage your transportation needs?
